Good week everyone! Hope it has been for you. The weather has certainly not been keeping people in... at least not those coming to Port Edward. We've been having record weekends the past few weeks. But don't stay away.. we always have room for you.
The Denny Diamond Show at Port Edward Cabaret was a big reason we were very busy last Saturday. Denny and his two sons entertained a sell out dinner show audience that could not get enough of this fabulous entertainer. His Neil Diamond tribute show sold out two weeks before the performance and the phones never stopped ringing for reservations. We're listening to you ... so invited him back. You'll have another opportunity to see this world class entertainer on Saturday March 6th. Trust me when I tell you that this will be another sold out show. All of our shows in this series thus far have been sell outs! We just put the new information on www.PortEdward.com yesterday so you are among the very first to have the opportunity to buy early tickets.

February is the month of LOVE! Of course, at Port Edward every month we are celebrating love and romance. Any idea how many people have proposed here? Neither do we .. but we know that many of those couples are still coming back to celebrate their anniversaries. Port Edward, in fact, has been written up in several publications as one of the most romantic restaurants in the Chicago Area. Or maybe it is because we have so many cozy nooks where couples can have a quiet dinner and share a bottle of wine or champagne (you can even dim the lights in your booth). Could it be the Hot Chocolate Lava Cake or the Brandy Ice? Whatever the reason, love in always in the air, and on the palate, at Port Edward.
As you can see, for us, Valentines is a very high holiday. Chef Randy has put together a delectable special Valentine package for you and your sweetie. We will start with a complimentary bottle of bubbly for your table. Then you choose an appetizer - Bacon Wrapped Scallops - Shrimp deJonghe - Sesame Crusted tuna - or Shrimp Cocktail. When you are ready for more choose Prime Rib - Parmesan Crusted Halibut - Blackened Redfish - or Filet and Crab Tower for your main course. And for a delightful finish choose Key Lime Pie or Creme Brulee - Tiramisu - or a Schooner of Cheesecake! Now that's a lot of LOVE for $48.95 per person. Call now for reservations either Friday, Saturday or Sunday Valentines weekend. Friday the The Hudson McCoy Band will be in the Salem Lounge and Joshua Skaja entertains Saturday evening.
Rolling right out of Valentines day we'll be rolling right into FAT TUESDAY and a terrific Port Edward Mardi Gras Party! All week long beginning on Feb 16th you can enjoy the feast that is FAT TUESDAY. Appetizers - Calamari, this is the Creole crusted Calamari, Andouille Crusted Sea Scallops with Creole Mustard Sauce. Entrees are Crawfish Etouffee and Blackened Redfish! Yes! We have famous New Orleans Crepes Beignet with Chef Randy's hand made Chocolate Dip. Note from Bob: Please don't wait until Fat Tuesday to try this fabulous desert. The music of Doug Wolf kicks off the FAT TUESDAY party in the Salem Lounge about 7 p.m.

Taste of the week... I had this for lunch today so it's fresh to recommend. Surf and Turf - $18.95. You've likely had a variety of this as nearly all seafood and steak places have a version of it. At Port Edward we do it our way. It is a visual delight and both Surf and Turf are easy to eagerly enjoy. Surf side: several large coated and flash fried shrimp. Big juicy with just the right crunch and a bit of red dipping sauce to spark it up a little. These big guys are served over a bed of dark rice. Turf Side: a delicious steak cooked the way you like it. Tender, tasty, and a perfect compliment to the zesty shrimp. A fresh steamed veggie medley adds color and makes me feel a little less guilty for having a very nice steak for lunch. When you are taking a break from your usual lunch salad, this is the way to go!
